The Design Council are celebrating their 70th anniversary of championing great design to improve lives. To mark this momentous year they have established Design Council Spark, a product innovation fund, to help accelerate products to market. They were asked to create a brand to reinforce the innovation at the heart of the scheme.
They began the project by holding a workshop at the Design Council to establish the positioning, audience and key characteristics of the programme which served as the foundation for their creative brief. From there they developed the visual language and logotype, working alongside the in-house design team to ensure the brand would be practical, flexible and above all – enjoyable to implement. The dynamic visual language of the brand communicates the properties of Design Council Spark as a catalyst. The arm of the k is the point from which the expression explodes, providing a sense of the energy and direction that the product innovation fund provides.
