Volunteers Who Brave The Sea
A photo series by Nigel Millard documenting the brave volunteer crews of Britains Lifeboats.
Photographer Nigel Millard celebrates one of the world's oldest lifesaving charities, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), with a raw and dramatic series that captures the lives of the voluntary crew that has saved over 140,000 lives since it was founded in 1824. The J.M.W. Turner-esque shots formed part of an exhibition last year titled Volunteers Who Brave The Sea and was put together in collaboration with Finisterre at their Covent Garden location.
The collaboration with Finisterre, whose founder Tom Kay is also a volunteer crew member, formed part of the brands lookbook, modelled by the crew and took a chance to give back to those that put their lives on the British coastline for every one of us.
